We produced several contrasting design options for discussion and settled on a black standing seam zinc-clad extension with part pitched and part flat roof. The roof forms delineate two separate internal areas, with the pitched roof over an extension to lounge space and flat roof over a new dining area. Whilst the pitched roof section is at ground floor level, the floor of the dining area is lowered to be at terrace level and features bi-folding doors which open the space completely to the south. The flat roof projects over the terrace creating a covered external space outside and bi-folds are stacked to one side of this.
